Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “Why is it that we haven’t achieved all we intended to achieve in our lives?”

Well, this is a good question isn’t it? Psychologists tell us that our self image has completely developed by the age of six!

So I ask you, “Would you let a six year old go and do your job each day?” What I mean is as far as confidence in yourself is concerned, unless you’ve worked on it since; your self confidence was installed according to the psychologists, by the age of six.

So, if you’ve had some unpleasant experiences as a small child; for example if your Dad told you not to play near the electricity supply, and said “Keep away! It’s very dangerous!” Then it’s possible that your lack of self-confidence, in your ability to recognize danger, could be traced back to then.

One of the things that Life Coaches do is to work with people on their lives and show them how to build up their confidence. One of the ways that we can help to build your self confidence is by helping you to face your fears and then little by little bit by bit proving to you that yes, you are as capable as everyone else! :)

By having a Life Coach along with you for the ride, someone who can discuss what has happened when things haven’t gone exactly to plan and at that time to be supportive; and then when things do go exactly to plan, to be there to celebrate with you, but either way a Life Coach can keep you on track by helping you to be neither over confidant or despairing.

When you feel like giving up, the Life Coach is there saying, “No, it’s not time to give up, it’s time to press on! It’s time to be challenged and to be inspired, and to feel yes, that’s really where I want to go!”

For almost four years now, I have coached people from all over the world, from many different walks of life and with well over a thousand hours of coaching completed, I am certain that I can be a catalyst for change in your life too! Having spent more than a thousand hours coaching people, I’d have to be a fool to be unable to understand the human condition by now. What’s more as you must realize, I am a human being myself!

You can actually become all that you want to be and Life Coaches are the people who are well equipped to help you to achieve your desires and there is no reason at all other than the reasons that you give yourself, why you unable to progress further in your life. When I say that, I mean further in the direction that you intend to go.

So, the first Life Coaching session that I would like to take you through, without any financial cost to you, is a goal setting session and in that session we discover together what it is that you really want to do and then we start working on getting you from where you are to where you want to be.

Don’t let the lack of self-confidence of the six year old inside you, rule your life anymore. Let the six year old grow up and let the six year old become a seven and an eight and a nine and a ten and an adult person that realises day by day that you are capable of all that you dream of doing in your life.

You don’t have to cow tow to everyone around you and fit in. You can do what you want to do as long as you don’t hurt anyone in the process. Some people don’t mind hurting others, but that isn’t something I would coach you to do. But yes, you can grow in wisdom, you can grow in tenacity and determination, you can achieve and you can be inspired.

I’ve been described by some of my clients as an inspirational coach and I know I can inspire you to move on in your life to be all that you want to be.

I hope that I’ve given you food for thought and if you’d like to speak to me all you have to do is either email me at info@andrewsmithlifecoach.com or call me now on 0800 085 8056 that’s if you’re in the UK or Internationally on +44 114 251 4951 and we can arrange the best time and date for you to experience your own free Life Coaching session.

1147 - The Observer and The Observed

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “Who do you say that you are?”

Who do you think that you are? Do you believe that you are the sum total of all the good and bad things that people have said about you? Or are you “the observer” of your life; “the observer” and not “the observed?” I wonder if you understand the difference between those two concepts “the observer” and “the observed;” please let me have the opportunity to explain it to you.

During most of our lives what we tend to do, is to get out there into the world and live our lives. We do the things that we do, without really thinking about what we are doing, we’re on auto-pilot. It’s the one who lives their lives in that way that I describe as “the observed.” Why do I do that, because the only ones considering the outcome of their actions, whilst they live in that way, are other people and then it’s only when those “other people” are showing an interest.

However, “the observer” is the one, I describe as that little quietness within us, that is able to observe everything we say and do and able to make a considered opinion about the events of our lives and what are the best next set of actions for us to take. So I ask you, “Do you listen to “the observer” rather than the voices of those around you, who are making their own comments?” After all it’s your life, shouldn’t you be the one who has the main say in it?

Are we just “the observed” person inside the stage coach of our lives, being pulled along by the five horses of our senses? Are we being pulled along by the things that we see, that we hear, that we smell, that we taste, that we touch or; are we someone that “observes” all of that and in the quietness of our own thoughts decides which actions will help or hinder us in our lives as we live from day to day?

Some people say, “I have an alcohol problem!” and I think “No, what you’ve got is a horse problem!” You’re allowing your senses to dictate to you, where you’re going in your life. Maybe you think of your body sat inside the stage coach as being you, but really you are the silent inner witness that sits within your body;” the observer,” that’s the real you!

So here’s the question that I’m asking, “Will you allow that inner wisdom that you have, which every one of us has, to decide what you do with your life or are you going to continue to allow your body and your senses to take you in the direction they seem to want you to go and remain on auto pilot?”

Let me add one more thing that I have become aware of. It’s not only that our senses make us do what we do. Sometimes it’s the tribal mentality that causes us to act in a certain way; we do what we do because that is what our friends and family, our peer group or society expects of us. Are you going to be led by the tribe? Or are you going to be someone who challenges the normal things that happen every day in your life and say “No! Let’s think about this differently?”

I hope I’ve given you food for thought and if you’d like to speak to me all you have to do is either email me at info@andrewsmithlifecoach.com or call me now on 0800 085 8056 that’s if you’re in the UK or Internationally on +44 114 251 4951 and we can arrange the best time and date for you to experience your own free Life Coaching session.

1146 - Life Coaching Is Right For You! Here’s The Reason Why!

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “Why Does Anyone Need a Life Coach?”

Well, I have a theory and maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not, I’ll let you decide. My theory is that eighty percent of the people in the western world really don’t enjoy their lives. What most of them are doing is going from one minor crisis to another. They go to their jobs each day, pay the bills and although they maybe get a holiday or two each year, they don’t feel fulfilled. They don’t experience a life that is on purpose; and they suspect that their lives should be so much more than it really is.

However, if you’d asked those same people in their late teens or early twenties, what they wanted to do with their lives. Whatever their answer would have been back then, it’s certainly not what they’re doing in their lives now! I also believe that it’s still not too late to have the life of your dreams and that anyone can be totally fulfilled and live a life of passion. What’s more, I believe that the Life Coach has the tools and the strategies to help people like you and me get to from where we are to where we’ve always wanted to be.

So, why does anyone need a life coach? Well I think, first of all, everybody’s got one! The person most people use as their Life Coach is either a family member, maybe it’s their parents, maybe it’s a brother or a sister, a dear Aunt or Uncle. It could be a friend, a very close friend or someone that they know at work, that always seems to be there to advise them and to help them along life’s way.

The problem is that those well meaning people are not trained to coach, they do it from their hearts, which is great, but they don’t really understand the processes involved. I believe that the tools and the strategies that I’ve learned and used not only with my clients but in my own life too, could enhance your life if you were to decide to make use of them yourself.

If you go to the testimonials page of my website www.andrewsmithlifecoach.com you can read what others have said about the changes for the better that have happened to them by applying these Life Coaching tools.

The great news is, that there’s a free session, a thirty minute session that I’m willing to give to you, just to help you to personally taste the benefits of having a Life Coach and to see for yourself if Life Coaching can help you on your journey from where you are to where you really want to be in your life. Then at the end of that session you can make an informed decision as to whether you want to continue with the Life Coaching process.

I believe a life of purpose, a life of joy, a life of fulfillment awaits you.

1145 - Do You Allow Your Fears To Get You Down?

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “Do you allow your fears to get you down?”

We all suffer from fear at one time or another in our lives. It comes to us in six different forms and you’ll be lucky if you don’t suffer at some time from each type of fear. The most common form of fear is the fear of poverty, the second fear is the one of being criticized, the third the fear of ill health, the fourth is the fear of lost love, the fifth is the fear of old age and the final fear we suffer from, is the fear of death.

However, fears are nothing more than an expression of our thinking at any given point in time. The great news is that we are capable of directing our thoughts down a different path which means that, we are in this way able to take control of our minds! :)

What we focus on and think about does eventually become our reality! So, it is extremely important that we are aware of our thoughts and when our thinking is taking steps in the direction of our fears, we need to know how to change our thoughts.

Life is better lived and more fully enjoyed, when we learn how to be aware, then understand and finally take charge of our thinking; especially the thoughts of our sub-conscious mind, which I call the “auto-pilot” thinking, that we do each and every day.

Each of us has the possibility of having complete control over our minds and the strategies and tools to deal with our fears are part of the work that a Life Coach does with their clients. I’d love to be able look with you at your fears and for us to find ways together to redirect your thoughts, to enhance your life and to show you how to conquer your fears.

1144 - How Is The Global Downturn Affecting Your Thinking?

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “How is the global downturn affecting your thinking and your life?”

The subject of the recession is a major topic, and usually the aim of the media seems to be to “big it up.” Engendering fear in another person is something I dislike intensely, even though I am willing to accept, it does sell newspapers! :(

People have enough problems to cope with each day without the media “laying it on thick” with their poetic use of the English language.

Sadness, fear and depression seem to roam the land at this point, in a way that they shouldn’t be allowed to do! The government has been accused by the media of “talking up the economy” as if that were some kind of bad thing?

I also heard recently that shares in a well known retail company, had been going up in value substantially, because their sales figures weren’t as bad as they thought they’d be. The company in question was expecting worse results! And why was that? It was, in my opinion, because the expectation within the media had been leading the directors and the analysts to expect the worst!

The worst case scenario with the downturn in economic conditions for the individual is that you could lose your livelihood, with all that that entails. I personally hope that this is not your experience, but if it is; then I can tell you that I have been unemployed myself. Looking back, with hindsight now on what happened to me, I can tell you that I didn’t return to work until I had taken a certain number of actions to secure alternative employment.

I used to think it was a matter of time before I’d get a new situation, but now I know it wasn’t to do with days and weeks, it was to do with my actions and inactions; my thoughts whether they were positive or negative. You see, when you set your heart on a particular employment opportunity, as I did when I was unemployed, and it doesn’t work out, then you get down and depressed and you give up for a little while. And then you realize that the “giving up” isn’t helping you to find work, and you start putting some effort in again, well at least that was in my experience.

So, if the worst comes to the worst, by staying positive, determined and having a “never give up” mentality, even unemployment can be a happy and expectant time in your life. Maybe you hated your job anyway or were ready for a change of situation, in which case you could say the recession has done you a great favour.

I hope your glass is always half full or full and never half empty! :)

1143 - Are You Living A Fulfilled Life?

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “Are you living a fulfilled life?”

As a life coach I see that my purpose is to help my clients to become all they want to be. To help them achieve this, they first need to know what they are aiming for and what they want to become! ;-)

So what is your life about? What is the contribution you want to make to the world? It can be many things, such as bringing up your family to be a blessing to all those around them. It could be developing a career, becoming a leader or to leave the world a better place because you’ve been here.

My suspicion is that there are many people listening to or reading this, who have already defined their life’s purpose. They know their talents are the gift they have been given to share with the world, to uplift and enrich other people’s lives. I believe you may fit this description, but only you can answer whether it’s true!

I know that if I hadn’t become a life coach I would have lived an unfulfilled life!

When we have that amount of certainty and know that we are living our lives on purpose, our interaction with the world becomes more passionate, our direction becomes clearer and our lives are much more enjoyable as a result! :-)

So, when you decide what it is that you want to achieve in your life, having a life coach may give you the advantage that makes the difference to you being able to arrive at your chosen destination, rather than merely dreaming of arriving.

1142 - Do You Use Your Imagination?

Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “Do you use your imagination to achieve your dreams and desires?”

There are three types of goal to aim for and the first two types are usually the one’s that you fail to achieve, but sadly they are the ones that most people adopt!

There are the goals that we know we can have; maybe it’s a new TV? How come we know that we can have a new TV? It’s because we already have a TV. It’s easy to believe we can have a replacement to anything we own. We’ve done it before, so we can do it again!

Then there are the goals we think we can have, like losing weight! Other people have lost weight, we’ve seen their stories; so if we consider the problem and think about it, we should be able find or work out a strategy for losing weight!

The problem with the know and the think type goals is that both of them lack inspiration. Without inspiration our goals lose their desirability and very early on in our pursuit of these goals we give up, with our attempts to have them.

If you want a goal that you see as a pure fantasy, you will have to use your imagination to go get it and you will find that this will be a most inspiring journey. The inspiration will carry you through till you have the goal! However, most people don’t even consider this type of goal, and why is that?

As children we believed that anything was possible, our parents encouraged us to use our imagination, as it often served them to get us out from under their feet. But when we got to school we were told by our teachers to stop looking out of the window and to concentrate on the lesson being taught and if we didn’t we would be punished for not paying attention. In this and other ways, our teachers stopped us from using our imagination and conditioned us to think about what they wanted us to think about, very much like the media attempts to do that to us in our adult life.

Roger Bannister ran the first sub four minute mile, Edmund Hillary climbed Everest, Wilbur and Orville Wright built a flying machine! Everyone said these things were impossible … but they weren’t! I suggest that you should, like Bannister, Hillary and the Wright brothers, escape your conditioning, and instead imagine and fantasize that your goals can become your reality!

So what is it that you want? What is your fantasy? I suggest whatever it is, however unrealistic, you should pursue it with all your might! You may want to consider having a Life Coach at your side throughout the journey to keep you on track, to believe in you, to share the tools and strategies that will help and encourage you and prevent you from feeling like giving up.

Napoleon Hill the author of “Think and Grow Rich” said “The imagination is the most marvelous, miraculous, inconceivably powerful force the world has ever known!” I suggest you use yours! :)

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “How determined are you when it comes to getting your goals?”

“The starting point of all achievement is desire!” so says Napoleon Hill, author of the book “Think and Grow Rich.” With desire comes the excitement and the energy to bring about the successes that we seek. If we will become single minded, persistent and take on a positive mental attitude, our plans will NEVER be thwarted!

Desire itself helps us to form a clear picture in our minds eye of the outcome we want to have. We won’t become discouraged if we keep our focus on the wonderful feelings we expect to have when we get where we want to go.

If you can imagine yourself experiencing life at a particular level even if you haven’t lived life like that before, then I promise you that such a life is possible for you. The mere existence of desire in your heart and mind is the proof that you can be and do whatever your desire dictates!

So what is your deepest desire, what is it that you really want to do? What do you sometime get a healthy obsession about? I can tell you from my own experience that whilst desiring for over a decade to become a Life Coach, without taking any action to make it happen, I was frustrated and unhappy. But as soon as I took the decision to make the effort and to begin to move in the direction of my desire, excitement and joy took hold of me.

The road hasn’t always been easy, there are always going to be the bumps in the road along the way, but by following my desires I am becoming the person that I was always intended to be, and that can be your experience too. The best equipped person to help you to turn your desires into your reality is a Life Coach, and I am here and now offering you a free Life Coaching session.

1140 - Have You Clearly Defined Your Goals?

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “Have you clearly defined you goals?”

Within the work I do, making sure that people have specific, measurable goals that they have committed to paper is in my opinion the starting point for my client’s journey. It is so commonplace in my thinking, that I believe everyone must know the importance of writing down their goals and dreams. Why? Because the very act of writing them down, makes them tangible and real!

This morning I received an email from a prospective client in reply to a challenge I made to them to “define your goals!” This person’s response was: “The biggest change I have made is to actually write down my goals in minute detail, even doing that is so focusing and empowering!”

I know from my own experience and from the experiences that my clients have shared with me; that speaking out what we would like to happen, is the beginning of the change that brings about our goals and desires! According to the bible that is exactly how God made everything, by simply speaking it into being: “And God said let there be light and there was light!”

If you write down your goal and then carry it with you and read it often; you will start to imagine your life as it will be when the goal is completed. When your intended outcome is constantly in your mind, it will keep you focussed and help you to believe that your dream will become your reality.

If you don’t know where you’re going, how will you know even if you get there that you’ve arrived?

Albert Einstein said: “Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand; whilst imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” So we can see that imagination is the preview of life’s coming attractions. It therefore makes good sense to use our imaginations today to create the life we’ve always intended to have.

Hi there, this is Andrew Smith International Life Coach with a question for you: The question today is “How important is it for you to have goals?”

I’ve heard people dismiss Self Development and Life Coaching with one statement, they say “I’m not goal orientated!” I always leave this kind of conversation with respect for the individual’s right to chose how to live their lives, but also sad.

You see, if you are someone without a goal, then in my book, you’re someone without a pre-determined destination! If you’re someone without direction for your life, my expectation is that you’re floating around and you’re going nowhere! It seems so apparent to me that the reason why so many people are depressed is because they lack both focus and direction.

I also meet people who initially seem to be on my wavelength, they talk about things that they want to accomplish in their lives and they seem to have so many goals. On the face of it, they appear to have direction, but I leave those conversations feeling sad as well.

You see, it’s impossible to go in lots of different directions at the same time, so these people end up going nowhere too! What I’m saying is that yes, we need direction for our lives, but maybe like an airplane we need to pick one airport at a time to fly to, or we’ll just be “up in the air” till we run out of fuel.

Personal Development and Life Coaching can offer people the tools that will aid them on their journey to become the people they want to be, living the lives they truly desire, once they have established where their destination should be.

As you must know by now, if you have been reading or listening to my blog. I am offering you the opportunity to have a without cost, coaching session of your own. I can’t type the email or pick up the phone and dial the number for you; these actions can only take place as a result of your decision and desire. Andrew is not only a great coach but a true friend who understands human nature. He has a great knack for being able to understand you as an individual rather than using a one size fits all approach. Jeff Gee - Washington, USA - Singer Songwriter                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Andrew is extremely passionate and holds you to a great standard. I would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to Andrew for coaching. Kam Khara - Oakham, Rutland - Brian Tracy Associates UK Business Development Manager                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      I think that your spiritual/rational approach works incredibly well. The spiritual side, in particular, is so different from other approaches I’ve tried in the past: theres nothing esoteric about it, it just makes sense. Marco Schnabl - London - Record Producer                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       I never expected the level of support I received from Andrew, nothing seemed a problem or effort for him; he made sure that our conversations were worthwhile and uplifting. Eva Godden - Kingston-Upon-Thames - Marketing Lecturer                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      There is no doubt that this gentleman has a brilliant future in the coaching profession.
