So who is Andrew Smith? Well he is a Life Coach who has coached clients from four continents and from many different walks of life. He is the director of Giant Steps Life Coaching Ltd and is also known as “The Musicians Life Coach.”
Andrew was born in Bradford, West Yorkshire in 1957 and lived there till he was 22 years old. He worked for Barclays Bank after leaving school for 3 years, passing Part One of the Professional Banking Exams; he then went on work in Junior Retail Management, in the IT Department of the Local Council, selling Office Equipment and then as a Care Assistant in an Old People’s home before leaving Bradford to go to Methodist Bible College with the intention of training to become a Methodist Minister.
Andrew has had many different employment experiences since leaving school; including running his own successful book-keeping and accounts practice “Figure-Smiths” from 1990 to 1998. He has been married to Anne for the past 28 years and they have 3 grown up children and one still in Secondary Education; they have lived in Sheffield, South Yorkshire since 1984.
In 1998 he was employed as the Accounts Manager of a local construction company who had been his client since 1991. He left in April 2006 to become a full time Life Coach and he set up Giant Steps Life Coaching Ltd in the September of that year.
Andrew was a preacher, teacher and home group leader in a number of different mainstream Christian evangelical churches from 1976 until 1993. He now considers himself to be an open minded spiritual person, who has, since 1993, read and embraced some of the wisdom to be found in other faiths and philosophies.
He has been reading books and listening to various self development speakers, since he first heard Brian Tracy speaking in 1988 during a sales training meeting he attended. His favorite personal development speakers are Tony Robbins, Wayne Dyer and Bob Proctor. Andrew shares many of the insights he has gained by reading and listening to these three and many other personal development teachers.
He has not only attended workshops and seminars run by others, but conducted his own workshops too. He loves the opportunity to speak to groups as well as individuals; public speaking is something he has done since his late teens.
Andrew has had many life experiences that have helped to prepare him for the role he now has. People have commented that Andrew has the ability to take difficult concepts and make them both simple and easy to understand. He is friendly and approachable and has a great love for people and a great desire to help them to get what they want out of their own lives.
